Join the Quantum Software Lab as a Fully Funded PhD student

The Quantum Software Lab at the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh, is excited to announce the availability of at least seven fully funded PhD by research positions in the field of Quantum Computing


Selected candidates will become part of an interdisciplinary cohort, developing a deep understanding of foundational principles in quantum computing, quantum information, quantum software development, and mathematical modelling tailored to quantum sciences. This prestigious program includes integrated studies in Quantum Informatics, featuring a customised residential programme at the National Quantum Computing Centre. Your research project may focus on a wide array of applications, from particle physics to quantum computer architecture engineering, mathematical fundamentals, and interfacing with high-performance computing.   • Full tuition coverage for 4 years (home or overseas fee status).

  • A tax-free stipend of £19,237 per year.

  • A Research Training and Support Grant of £9,000 (overal).

  • 8 weeks of paid annual leave, plus sick and parental leave provisions.


How to Apply

Apply through the University's admissions portal (EUCLID) for the LFCS PhD full-time programme starting in September 2024. Remember to mention "Quantum Informatics" and Dr. Chris Heunen as your proposed supervisor in your application; even if you envision working with a different supervisor, It's a matter of handling paperwork and ensuring that we directly receive your applications.
